This place in Chile is known for its large cave and the fossil remains of the milodon, a prehistoric mammal. The Milodon Cave is a large natural formation. Its scientific importance lies in the fact that since 1896 pieces of skin and other remains of an extinct animal called Darwin's milodon (Mylodon darwini) were found. Research determined that it lived at least 5,000 years ago and confirmed the existence of other animals in the area such as the dwarf horse, the saber-toothed tiger, and the large guanaco. The cave also has archaeological value, as it was inhabited by primitive Patagonian humans about 12,000 years ago. Additionally, it offers trails that explore the cave and its surroundings, ideal for ecotourism and archaeology. It is a key site for natural history and education.
