It is no longer possible to tour the Explorers glacier due to the high risk to visitor safety caused by glacier instability.
The glaciers and snowfields from the Northern Ice Fields create the huge ice blocks that break off and fall into San Rafael Lagoon, which is an impressive and breathtaking spectacle. The native forests and unique lichens of this place are also wonderful. Located between the Explorers and Baker rivers, General Carrera Lake, and the Gulf of Penas, it also surprises with the contrast of its landscapes: some dominated by ice, others by vegetation.
